Planning Officer (Development Management), Balivanich

Full time, permanent, £38,149 - £41,432 per annum

Comhairle nan Eilean Siar is the Planning Authority for the islands of the Outer Hebrides, an area renowned for environmental quality, beautiful scenery, outdoor opportunities, low crime rates, good schools and a strong cultural scene.

Working within the Communities Department, you will be required to provide professional planning services to fulfil statutory planning duties and related tasks. This post, within the Development Management team, offers opportunities for excellent planning experience dealing with a wide range and variety of development types across a diverse environment.

You will have Full or Associate membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute and proven work experience of a significant breadth and depth in Development Management  or Development Plan work.

You must demonstrate sound knowledge of current planning legislation and associated guidance in your application; and have good interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills; listening, and negotiation skills; an ability to accept responsibility and work constructively within a small team; an ability to organise and prioritise own workload; and competence in working in a digital environment. You will be required to travel by car to satisfy the duties of the post and a current driving licence is essential.

Salary for the above post is inclusive of Distant Islands Allowance.  Appointment to the post will be on the first point of three within the grade.
