Small private consultancy dealing with a wide range of interesting and exciting projects, and specialists in securing permission for the film industry.
The Opportunity
Based near Guildford in Surrey, the successful candidate will join an established consultancy with a strong reputation for achieving planning permissions across the commercial, residential, film and rural sectors.
Planit Consulting are looking for a Senior Planner with experience to assist deliver planning permissions at a variety of scales. The successful candidate would be, managing their own projects and working closely with a range of clients. As an experienced planner, you will be responsible for taking briefs from call-in’s, meeting with clients and preparing fee proposals as well as delivering the projects alongside a team of planning professionals. Whilst it is expected that you can handle yourself independently with new and existing clients, they are not looking for the finished article and the managing director and senior team will be on hand to support and mentor your further professional development. Business development is always important in a consultancy role, and whilst it is essential that you have a commercial outlook, and have the confidence to provide advice to clients the company can accommodate people at a variety of points in their career, and help develop essential skills to develop your career. Attitude, ambition and technical abilities are key to this appointment.

About you
You will be an experienced Town Planner with 5+ years’ experience gained in a public or private sector setting. You will already have solid planning experience allowing you to sit at Senior Planner level, already be a chartered member of the RTPI or on course for chartership in the near future.
If you haven’t yet worked in the private sector, don’t be put off! The owner and other senior staff will be there to support you in making the transition from local authority to commercial planning, and your experience with LPA’s will add further value to their client offering.
The Company
The consultancy is well-established with a team of five experienced planners, and an architectural technician. They have a strong reputation in the local area resulting in a continuous flow of inbound enquiries and recommendations. They work closely with a number of architectural practices, to which they provide planning support. They also have an inhouse architect.
They are based in an attractive location that’s easy to reach by car or train from south/west London or the south east of England and they enjoy a warm and friendly team atmosphere. Some working from home is an option (two-three days per week).
