Planning Policy Technical Officer

Salary - Band F – up to £24,491 depending on experience (£23,080 - £24,491)

Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council is a small Council with big values. We are committed to ensuring our services are delivered to the highest possible standard and we put the customer at the forefront of everything we do. By working for us you will become part of the team and will play your part in serving our community.

We are currently recruiting for a Planning Policy Technical Officer in the Planning Policy team to monitor, research, analyse and present spatial information and statistics. This will help the authority to fulfil its statutory monitoring obligations and support the development of the Council’s emerging planning policies. This is an exciting time to join an innovative, forward thinking authority delivering transformation, regeneration, and growth.

This role is ideal for those who have an interest in a planning career, or wish to increase their knowledge to further progress in the area. This role will give the successful applicant an excellent opportunity to gain essential experience in Planning, with the opportunity to gain a relevant qualification while working in a varied role.

This role will require on-site visits as well as office-based tasks to ensure an excellent service to both internal and external customers to the Planning team.

As an employer that has embraced agile and flexible working, the Council recognises the importance of an appropriate work/life balance and supports employees to develop and grow.

Suitable candidates will need to be well-organised, have a keen eye for detail and be able to manage, and derive information from, complex datasets. We’re looking for an enthusiastic individual who works well as part of a team, can use their own initiative and can actively contribute new ideas.

You will need to be educated to level thee on the National Qualifications Framework in subjects which demonstrate good standards of English and Mathematics.

You will need to be able to manage large databases, and have experience of researching, collating, analysing and presenting information from those databases. In particular, monitoring housing completions, as well as office, industrial, retail and leisure developments, will be a key focus of the role.

As an employer, Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council offers a wide range of benefits, including flexible/agile working, access to the Local Government Pension Scheme, a generous holiday allowance and a parking pass.

This post is covered by the Fluency Duty, as outlined in the Code of Practice on the English language requirements for public sector workers.

Please note that all applications must be received on an online application form. We do not accept CVs and do not keep CVs on file unless part of an application.

Any communication with you will be via email, so please check your email, including spam/junk folders, and WMJobs account on a regular basis after submitting your application.

For further details regarding the role, please contact Adam James, Principal Planning Policy Officer on 02476 376 457 or by email: Adam.james@nuneatonandbedworth.gov.uk.
