Planner/Senior Planner x 4.5fte

Development Management

£29,386 - £42,006 per annum + car allowance + £3,000 + Market Suppliement for senior officer appointment (Grade 8 only)

Swale Borough Council is a progressive and ambitious Local Authority, located less than an hour from Central London in an attractive and diverse part of Kent involving urban, rural and coastal areas. The Borough is facing an exciting period of change, with plans for major growth, which brings challenges and opportunities over the next few years for Planning Officers wanting to gain a wide range of experiences to further their careers in Planning.

We are now looking for talented, self-motivated and enthusiastic Planners to join our busy Development Team who can really make an impact; working in a Borough that faces a diverse and unique range of planning challenges.

Whilst we are looking for at least three experienced Senior Planning Officers who are able to demonstrate the ability of handling complex planning cases, these are career graded posts and so we also welcome applications from recent graduates in Town and Country Planning or in a related subject, who are just starting out in their career and who are interested in becoming a professional planner.

Whilst the posts are available within the Development Management section, the Job Description does allow for the potential secondment across to Planning Policy section at a future date for career development.

The Council considers that all roles should be able to communicate clearly and concisely.

We have a number of roles we are looking to fill, both full and part time, and on a permanent or fixed term contract basis and so we look forward to hearing from you.

Swale is a great place to work because our staff are dedicated, friendly and passionate. Working for Swale Borough Council, you’ll have the opportunity to develop your skills and experience within an organisation that prides itself on supporting its staff. We encourage all types of vocational and technical training & qualifications, including management and leadership programmes. As part of our succession/career planning, you will be given the time away from work to study and develop your career. In addition to learning & development, we also offer many flexible working opportunities, including flexi time, nine-day fortnight, compressed hours, part-time working and home mobile working.

For further information or to discuss this opportunity in more detail, please contact Andrew Jeffers, Development Manager on 01795 417116.

To apply for the position please click on the 'Apply Button' and complete the online application form.

Closing Date: Sunday 25th April 2021

Interview Date: w/c 3rd May 2021

Council Benefits: career average pension scheme, professional fee payment, flexible working (including opportunities for home working and job share), to employee benefits package and generous leave entitlement. Plus generous car mileage allowance.
