Principal Planner

Starting Salary up to £41,565 per annum, plus essential user car allowance

If you are looking for your next career move and a fresh challenge, we have an opportunity for you to join our Planning Policy team.  West Norfolk has more to offer than you may at first think, from the Fens in the south to the Norfolk Coast AONB, there are a diversity of landscapes and rural issues in this large Borough.  There is also urban regeneration and the need to plan for significant growth in the towns.  We need you to help balance the new growth planned for the area, with the preservation of the Borough’s unique environment and heritage.

Working closely with the Planning Policy Manager you will guide, motivate and support the team dealing with all aspects of Planning Policy, including Neighbourhood Plans.  You will be the lead professional, advising on statutory requirements and in preparing, monitoring, implementing and reviewing the Local Plan and supporting documents.

As a full member of the RTPI you will have proven experience in planning policy including experience at senior level. You will have the ability to analyse and interpret the built and rural environment and its planning policy requirements.  You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills with confidence in presenting advice at all levels, together with the ability to effectively prioritise workloads and demands.
