Lead Policy Advocate – Infrastructure

£35,000 - £40,000

ABOUT US

The Woodland Trust is the UK’s leading woodland conservation charity.  We want to see a UK rich in native woods and trees, for people and wildlife. The Trust aims to engage and inspire people about woods and trees to help us meet our vision of creating, restoring and protecting woodland.

THE ROLE

As part of the Conservation Policy team, the Lead Policy Advocate is responsible for helping to develop evidence based organisational policy positions and influencing decision makers across the UK to help achieve the Trusts core conservation aims. You will work at the forefront of securing the change needed to protect the UK’s ancient woods and trees.

Utilising key expertise and experience in relevant organisational policy positions and goals in key areas of infrastructure policy, legislation and significant infrastructure projects, and draw on the expertise of relevant colleagues to develop and drive forward delivery of integrated influencing strategies to secure these goals, and through this the priority conservation goals of the organisation.

THE CANDIDATE

You will be a strong negotiator who has the ability to influence differing audiences, using your previous experience within a policy or advocacy role to ensure all policies align to the Woodland Trust overall objectives and goals.

Whilst working at pace you will demonstrate strong leadership skills to be able to collaborate and lead on small teams to develop and implement new strategies and key policies. Having a clear understanding of the potential future shifts in ecological assessment, planning and green infrastructure.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT

There’s no other organisation like the Woodland Trust. Whatever you do here you will be supporting our work to protect and enhance woods and trees. In return we recognise and value our people. You'll have our full support, training and opportunities for professional development, along with a contributory pension, life assurance and good holiday entitlement.
