St Helens is at the heart of the North West, located midway between Liverpool and Manchester, playing a key role in the Liverpool City Region and ideally situated to benefit from the Northern Powerhouse agenda.
Our St. Helens Together approach sets out our vision for a better St. Helens Borough and to do this we have to be working effectively together with our partners and our residents.
To ensure we can deliver our exciting ambition for St. Helens we are seeking a planning officer to join one of the area teams in development management, for a 12 month period. Quality and performance are at the heart of the service and are key priorities. The successful candidate will therefore have a positive attitude and ‘can do’ approach to work within this context.
You should be able to demonstrate sound judgement, have a flexible approach to problem solving and be capable of dealing with a wide variety of situations working within a friendly, supported environment. You must have a relevant qualification, excellent communication and negotiation skills, as well as being enthusiastic and committed.
Council employees are required to abide by the ethical standards embodied by the 7 NOLAN principles of conduct in public life. These include selflessness, integrity, objectivity, accountability, openness, honesty and leadership.
