Due to a restructure of our Planning Enforcement Team we are now looking for a Senior Planning Enforcement Officer.

This is a great opportunity to be part a new team and to have a real input into the development of the function by reviewing current policies and procedures and redesigning these where necessary.  Our IT system has also recently been upgraded and this is also an opportunity to develop the system to achieve a robust, streamlined and paperless enforcement process.

The Council receives on average 250 notifications of unauthorised development and/or breaches of Planning Control per year. The enforcement team which comprises of 3 full time staff are charged with investigating and resolving these complaints through negotiation and/or by serving formal notice (breach of condition notice/enforcement notice/Section 215 notice) to achieve the desired outcome.

We are looking for proactive and forward-thinking individual with excellent negotiating skills who seek solutions to issues and who uses their experience and technical knowledge to deliver the right solution to the problems that arise.  You will have the ability to make quick but robust decisions and provide support and advice to the Enforcement Planning Officers to ensure that they are carrying out their role in a competent fashion.  You will also be competent at managing not only your own workload but that of the wider team as well as being competent at maintaining records in an organised, precise and complete manner, where necessary to PACE standards, in order to form the basis of future actions including possible prosecution.

We are looking for candidates who have at least 7 proven experience as an enforcement officer and/or as a development management planner. Applicants must have a degree level qualification in Town and Country Planning or an appropriate subject relating to planning and be able to demonstrate post-qualification experience. Chartered Membership, or eligibility for membership of the RTPI is desirable is and applicants will need to demonstrate an extensive knowledge and understanding of technical matters relating of the overall planning/enforcement processes as carried out by a local authority.

We offer a Relocation Allowance of up to £8,000 (subject to eligibility).
