Due to a restructure of our Planning Enforcement Team we are now looking for Planning Enforcement Officers.
This is a great opportunity to be part a new team and to have a real input into the development of the Team and the Council’s Planning Enforcement function.
The Council receives on average 250 notifications of unauthorised development and/or breaches of Planning Control per year. The enforcement team which comprises of 3 full time staff are charged with investigating and resolving these complaints through negotiation and/or by serving formal notice (breach of condition notice/enforcement notice/Section 215 notice) to achieve the desired outcome.
We are looking for proactive and forward-thinking individuals with excellent negotiating skills who seek solutions to issues and who uses their experience and technical knowledge to deliver the right solution to the problems that arise.
Your role will be to investigate and resolve breaches of planning control. Your investigations may lead to service of enforcement notices, defending decisions at appeal, giving evidence in court and overseeing direct-action to secure compliance with enforcement notices. You will also be competent at managing your own workload as well as being competent at maintaining records in an organised, precise and complete manner, where necessary to PACE standards, in order to form the basis of future actions including possible prosecution.
For the enforcement planning officer opportunity, we are looking for candidates that have 2 years proven experience in a similar role.
We offer a Relocation Allowance of up to £8,000 (subject to eligibility).
