Working under the guidance of senior staff, the role would be within the Planning Service in the development and implementation of the Council's planning policies for the physical regeneration of the City of Manchester.

The role requires to work as part of a team and contribute towards the performance objectives of the Planning Service.

This role will provide the opportunity of working with varying issues, both in the office and on site where you would need to demonstrate considerable initiative and professional judgement. Working closely with Development Compliance, you will help to ensure that development is carried out in accordance with approved plans and consider appropriate action when development takes place without the necessary planning permission.

For this post, you should have a recognised planning qualification or knowledge and experience of working in development management or planning enforcement and compliance. You would be required to demonstrate that you can handle situations with tact and diplomacy, especially where emotions sometimes run high, together with good organisational and administrative skills and the ability to read and interpret plans and carry out accurate site survey work, would each be key to the achievement and challenge of this job.

This post is also subject to satisfactory references, proof of right to work in the UK in accordance with the Asylum and Immigration Act 1996 and other pre-employment checks where applicable.
