EXCITING PLANNING OPPORTUNITIES IN STOCKPORT

Stockport Council is looking for exceptional planners to join our team.

In the last 12 months we have seen a significant increase in the number of planning applications we determine and are now looking to recruit new planning officers to play a key role in supporting Stockport’s ambitious growth agenda.

Over in our Planning Policy Team we are working on a new Local Plan for the borough. The new plan will deliver a fresh balance between everything that’s great, everything we need to achieve and everything we need to protect and improve in Stockport.

We are a forward thinking, high performing service area so if you are looking for a challenge now is a great time to come and join our team.

SENIOR PLANNING POLICY OFFICER (SO2 - £30,451-£34,728)

SENIOR PLANNING POLICY OFFICER - INFRASTRUCTURE AND DESIGN LEAD (SO3 - £32,910-£37,890)

(both fixed term to December 2023)

If you’ve got experience of plan-making processes, of successfully working with communities and their elected representatives and of working to reach difficult balances then you're what we're looking for. If you're already working at this level and looking to move up a step, especially if you have experience of working with partners on infrastructure and design matters, then our new Infrastructure and Design Lead role could be for you.

ASSISTANT PLANNING POLICY OFFICER (SO1 - £27,741-£32,234)

(fixed term to December 2023)

If you're looking to get more experience but have a good understanding of what it takes to get a Local Plan in place, can work on your own initiative and have enthusiasm by the bucket-load then you could be just what we're after to fill our Assistant Planning Policy Officer role.

PLANNING OFFICER (Development Management team) (M band 4 - £37,890-£43,857)

(temporary 2 year fixed term)

Working across the borough you would play a lead role in the assessment of major development proposals from the pre-application stage through to delivery and completion on site. This is a great time to join the service as Stockport’s town centre regeneration and wider growth plans gain pace.

We are seeking an experienced, enthusiastic planning professional with sound judgement and a commitment to quality place-making and sustainability. The successful candidate will be able to thrive in a dynamic, sometimes challenging, but ultimately rewarding and supportive environment.

ASSISTANT PLANNER (Development Management team) (Scale 5-6 - £22,182-£27,041)

(temporary 12 month fixed term)

This post will primarily involve assessing householder planning applications and preparing for any associated appeals, dealing pre-application enquiries and assisting development management staff in all aspects of the planning application process.

You will need a relevant planning qualification and experience in a planning office or similar environment, be well organised, effective at working as part of a team, with good communication, analytical and technical skills. If this sounds like you, get in touch.

For further information contact Richard Wood (Planning Policy) on 07800 617505 or Suzanne Broomhead (Development Management) on 0161 2181982.
