We are at a key stage in the Local Plan process working towards a regulation 19 submission Whilst we are seeking an experienced planning policy professional, if you are enthusiastic, passionate about learning and able to think on your feet, this is also an excellent opportunity as a career graded post. You will have a key role in preparing the new Local Plan as part of a skilled team working closely with key stakeholders. The role offers an exciting opportunity to be involved in producing and implementing our Local Plan and working with stakeholders to deliver new homes and jobs. This is a dynamic and varied role, and an exciting time to be joining our team and contributing to the development, examination and adoption of the new Local Plan and delivering our vision.
What you’ll be doing…
Researching and prepare background evidence and reports to support the Regulation 19 submission draft Plan.
Commissioning specialist studies and research and managing contractors.
Communicating with a variety of audiences and stakeholders including developers, site promoters, statutory organisations and interest groups.
Drafting planning policies with a thorough understanding of policy implementation.
Preparing written reports and statements and presenting information and advice to elected councillors, and at Examination.
Ensuring effective corporate project co-ordination, project delivery and communication.
What we are looking for…
Educated to degree level, with a post-graduate qualification in Town Planning and be a member of or be, eligible for membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute. with at least one year’s post-qualification experience working in a related public or private sector environment.
You will have up to date knowledge of planning legislation and experience of working in a busy planning office
Or have experience at a senior level of working in a related public or private sector environment with a proven track record.
Good communication skills are essential, and you will need to show initiative and be able to liaise with a variety of stakeholders in the plan making process. You must be able to work under pressure and to tight deadlines demonstrating strong organisational and prioritisation techniques.
The candidate should be enthusiastic and passionate about learning and contributing to the wide variety of work undertaken by the team.
