This is an exciting and ground-breaking opportunity to lead the delivery of the County Plan (a Joint Statutory Spatial Plan for the long-term future of the county). This will be the first plan of its kind; it will set the vision for the next generation and beyond.

Central government has recognised the potential with the signing of a County Housing and Growth Deal with the local authorities and the Local Enterprise Partnership. This secures at least £215m of Government investment for new homes and infrastructure across the county.
A key part of the Housing and Growth Deal is the production of the new County Plan.
The 'Plan' will consider quality of life and place-making issues to ensure that growth is planned, sustainable, coherent and sensitive to the area. It will identify the overall quantum of housing and economic growth to be planned to 2050, their distribution across the county and the strategic infrastructure necessary to deliver the spatial strategy, contributing to the achievement of the Growth Board's Strategic Vision.

The 'Plan' will set the strategic planning context within which future Local Plans will sit. It will link to a new 2050 Transport Vision, the Local Industrial Strategy and the Infrastructure Strategy.
Work is underway on the 'Plan' with a Regulation 18 consultation planned this Summer and a commitment to provide a submission for examination by September 2022.

A dedicated project team is in place to deliver the Plan, and additional resources have been agreed from within the partner organisations to support the work. This is a complex project with an ambitious programme but with strong partner commitment and political support.

A job description is available for further information.
