Gateshead is an excellent Council and has an excellent reputation as Local Planning and Building Regulation Authority. We have an exciting opportunity for a Technical Support Manager to have a key role as part of the DM/BC Management Team.

We are committed to excellent performance and high-quality service and this post will play a central part in ensuring this is retained and improved. We need a keen and ambitious manager who can lead the delivery of technical support services in a busy and high performing team which provides support to both the Planning and Building Control teams. Your team will provide an outstanding service to a full range of customers using your excellent communication and customer care skills, and by maximising opportunities for online and other communication methods to drive efficiency and performance.

It is essential that you have good IT skills with knowledge of PC, server and network-based systems, good organisation skills and an understanding and focus on customer care. You should also have experience of managing a support team, of processing financial transactions, producing management information and performance reports and of undertaking process review and improvement. You should have at least five GCSE’s or equivalent including English Language and Maths.

It is also desirable that you have knowledge of Planning and Building Regulations legislation, procedure and practice, of Idox/workflow 360 computer systems and GDPR, FOI and information management with experience in customer care.
