Development Management Officer

£35,745 - £39,880 (Grade J)

Carmarthenshire’s current and future developments are both ambitious and challenging and we have an opportunity for an aspiring Planner to join a dynamic Planning Service, as part of its Development Management Team. The Planning Service acts as a vehicle for economic regeneration within the County and is an outcome-focused service.

The large geographical area of the County presents a number of professional challenges and opportunities, with a workload covering key rural issues, regeneration proposals on former heavy industrial sites, promoting economic development in key growth areas, and ensuring that the historic town centres are supported and strengthened.

It provides an opportunity to work in an attractive County with a varied geography, from its rural uplands to its coastal plains.

The Service seeks a qualified and experienced person who will be able to work closely within the team unit, and also is able to take responsibility for managing their work load, and to work under their own direction with confidence.

The County is bilingual with 46% of its population recorded as speaking Welsh in the 2011 Census. Ideally, candidates would be able to communicate confidently through this medium.

Conversational Welsh is required to accomplish this post. Support can be provided on appointment to reach this level.

For an informal discussion please contact John L J Thomas on 01554 742171 or Graham Noakes on 01558 825301.
