Sunnica Energy Farm (Solar) DCO, Longfield Solar, and other solar DCOs;
Luton Airport Expansion;
Thames Tideway DCO;
various infrastructure projects (highways, flood and coastal defense works) under the Cormac Framework;
various flood alleviation schemes for the Environment Agency; and
various other projects including residential and commercial development and strategic land promotion.
We are looking for a Senior Consultant Town Planner to join our growing team of town planning consultants in the South West, with a preferred location of Plymouth. As a Senior Consultant in our team, you will have the opportunity to work on a range of projects including major infrastructure projects consented under the 2008 Planning Act and planning applications across a variety of sectors, under the Town and Country Planning Act.

You will assist with the preparation of Development Consent Orders and planning applications, undertake site visits, write reports and work collaboratively across our network of offices with architects, engineers, environmental specialists, economists and other related professionals to develop high quality projects.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
The management and successful delivery of planning applications under the Town and Country Planning Act 1990, including coordinating multi-disciplinary teams across various project types.
Supporting the management and successful delivery of major infrastructure projects, including procedures under the Planning Act 2008 and the Transport and Works Act 1992.
Providing planning advice to colleagues and clients including the application of permitted development rights.
Monitoring and managing project budgets and programmes.
Writing Planning Statements and Design and Access Statements for planning applications.
Liaising with the Environmental Impact Assessment team.
Contribution to the preparation of successful commercial tenders.
Assisting with project management and implementing quality and health and safety principles.
Carrying out planning research and analysis and assist with the identification of planning risk.
Participating in internal and external meetings.
Support business development activities.

Minimum Requirements :
Full Chartered Member (or eligible for full membership) of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) or an equivalent professional town planning organisation.
Demonstrable and relevant experience of working within the Town & Country Planning Act 1990 regime.
Commercial awareness and the ability to write clearly and concisely.
Able to work on own initiative and under pressure.
Competent in the use of Microsoft Office including Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Project.
Sound knowledge of UK planning policy and legislation and, preferably a working knowledge of Environmental Impact Assessment legislation.
Client focused with good interpersonal skills and collaborative working approach with a high level of commitment to quality.

Preferred Qualifications :
The Development Consent Order regime under the Planning Act 2008.
Working in collaborative, multi-disciplinary teams on infrastructure and other major projects.
Identifying, evaluating and managing planning risk.
Preparation of successful commercial tenders.
Multi-disciplinary consultancy.
Project management.
Full current driving license.
Note – this role will not suit candidates who have a preference for master-planning / urban design or architecture.
