In this new opportunity, as part of a service expansion to address growing demands, you will influence the delivery of high quality design and place making, through the provision of landscape advice on planning applications, the preparation of Masterplans for strategic/allocated sites, Supplementary Planning Documents, nationally significant and major planning applications, and advising the Council on the landscape input for delivering its own development programme.

You will also act as a lead professional/expert witness at Planning Committee, Public Inquiries, Examination Hearings, Nationally Significant Infrastructure Project Examinations, to promote landscape best practice to help deliver the best possible outcomes for development across the district. You will also undertake on-site landscape planning condition compliance checks as appropriate and follow up visits once completed.

You should have a degree in Landscape Architecture (or relevant equivalent), as well as proven post graduate experience of landscape practice. Strong analytical, and problem solving skills, with the ability to analyse and advise on planting designs and specifications and have the skills to present this advice effectively are essential. We would also welcome interest from ambitious individuals who may not currently fulfil all the requirements for this post.
