East Suffolk Council is an exciting place to work and a great place to make a real difference to people's lives, delivering vital services to a quarter of a million people across East Suffolk. With two recently adopted Local Plans the Council is fulfilling its ambitions for growth with a wide range of allocated development sites for housing and employment growth, including a number of new Garden Neighbourhoods/Villages. The district is also leading huge growth in energy projects through the Sizewell C Nuclear Power Station project and substantial offshore wind and solar farm projects.

In this new opportunity, as part of a service expansion to address growing demands, this role will provide a great opportunity to develop a career as a lead Planner, managing a team of professional planners in the delivery of the development management and planning enforcement service within the Council.

You will manage and assess planning applications and pre-application submissions in accordance with planning law, national and local policy and guidance; uphold the decisions of the Council on planning applications via the appeal process; and carry out a range of planning enforcement duties, as assigned, taking account of relevant legislation, policies and procedures of the Council.
