Would you like to work in one of England’s finest landscapes and a World Heritage Site?
We’re looking for a Planner to join our active Development Management team for a 3 year fixed term contract to help deliver a high quality planning service. You’ll be based at our head office, in the thriving market town of Kendal on the edge of the Lake District.
You’ll have previous development management experience dealing with either planning applications or compliance, you will be readily able to take on your own casework.
Salary on appointment is dependent upon experience, knowledge and skill. We’ll consider reduced hours for the right candidate.
What it’s like to work here
Development Management includes our Planners, Trees and Woodlands Officer and team of support staff. The team handles all aspects of planning casework in the national park, including planning applications, tree work applications, enforcement and pre-application advice. If you’re interested in a compliance role you’ll handle a wide range of enforcement work, investigating alleged breaches of control, making recommendations on the expediency of action, preparing formal notices where necessary. You’ll represent the Authority at appeal or in court as needed. Ideally we are looking for someone with the ability to handle more significant and contentious casework.
About you
You’re highly organised and used to dealing with a range of tasks and deadlines. You’ll demonstrate strong analytical ability, be able to balance relevant considerations, and reach well-reasoned conclusions. You will be a great communicator and able negotiator, who cares about sustaining the future of the National Park’s spectacular living and working landscape, rich built and cultural heritage, and its diverse natural environment.
