About the role:

Do you have relevant experience and responsibility? And looking to take the next steps towards project management? We are seeking an enthusiastic Planner to join our friendly, award-winning team. The role includes contributing to a range of development planning projects, including:

  • Advising clients on the feasibility of projects.
  • Pre-application advice.
  • Preparing and submitting planning applications.
  • Responding to development proposals and plans.
  • Environmental Impact Assessments of development projects, and reviewing Environmental Statements.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a team of 50 planners, spread across our offices throughout the UK.

Our key sectors include housing and mixed-use development, minerals and waste planning, renewable energy, infrastructure, primary, secondary and tertiary education, health, agriculture and forestry development, and sport and recreation.

With our complementary landscape, heritage, ecology and EIA services, we help clients to maximise the potential of their development, while respecting key assets.

Our current high-profile projects include: implementing capital works at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, Windsor Great Park and London’s Royal Parks; implementing forestry and woodland developments; working with independent and state schools on their estate development; advising the Hurlingham Club and the Roehampton Club; securing consents for London Farmers Markets; advising the States of Guernsey on a harbour development. We also help local authorities determine planning applications and review Environmental Statements.

You will be involved at all stages, from business development and drafting proposals to project completion, working with a Project Director and other team members.

This role could be based in either our London, Manchester or Bristol office.

Salary range: £27,000 - £35,000 per annum FTE, depending on experience and location.

The role includes the opportunity to share and participate actively in the management and ownership of the business through the Employee Ownership Trust, which places full ownership of the company with the employees.

A full-time role would be based on 37.5 hours Monday to Friday. However, LUC has a strong track record in flexible working and we have been recognised for our flexible working culture, so we are happy to discuss a range of flexible working options for this role including working from home, part-time working (minimum 30 hours per week), and core hours if desired.

About you:

We are looking for someone with specific development planning experience, in an ideal world both in the public and private sectors, and specifically in the preparation of planning application reports / pre-applications etc. and some experience with dealing with local authority planning departments.

We are seeking an enthusiastic person who is keen to learn and assist with a range of projects, with the ability to project manage.

You should hold a Planning degree (graduate and/or post-graduate) and have Chartered membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute, or working towards it.

You must have good organisational skills with the ability to manage tasks and time, using your initiative.

Also important for this role are excellent report writing and communication skills, the ability to build effective relationships with colleagues and clients, and an enthusiastic and flexible attitude.

Candidates must be eligible to live and work in the UK.

To apply please email your CV and a covering letter, quoting reference: 2021-35 to Maheen Rai, People & Culture Assistant at:  [email protected]

Closing date for applications: 14 October 2021.

LUC is committed to equality, diversity and inclusion and we actively encourage applications from under-represented groups.
