I am currently working with a Local Authority in the Home Counties who are seeking a Principal Planner to join their HS2 Team.
 
The team is looking for an experienced Development Management Planner who has operated as Principal Planner previously.
 
The council can offer Hybrid working, and you can choose which office to be based out of.
 
This is a full time role for 37 hours per week, however, management may consider part time working which can be discussed on a case by case basis.
You will work as an integral part of the HS2 team to provide a high quality and efficient planning service to the team. You will deal with the most complex requests for pre-application advice and applications, and accordingly you will need to have very strong analytical, advisory and influencing/negotiation skills in order to be able to advise on, and secure fundamental changes to pre application schemes in order to secure good design and the best mitigation for the Council.
Furthermore, you will need to be able to robustly defend the Councils' decisions at appeal, including giving evidence under challenging cross examination at Public Inquiries, including managing and mitigating the risks such as an award of costs against the Council.
You will be responsible for the negotiation of good design and mitigation on all HS2 applications and planning applications received under the HS2 Act and the Planning legislation, for the preparation of reports, for overseeing the reports prepared by the other planners and to report the matter for final decision in accordance with the Council's determination process.
 
Driving required so full driving licence and business car insurance will need to be uploaded with compliance
 
Carrington West are willing to offer £72.50 per hour for this position.
 
To be successful in this position you MUST BE:
·A Qualified Town Planner with significant experience within a Local Authority Planning Department
