Salary: Grade 5, £25,481 - £28,672 per annum

Contract: Temporary (Up to 2 years)

Regulation and Economic Development

Overall Job Purpose:

To deal with the whole range of planning control functions in a timely, efficient and professional manner to ensure its objectives and targets are met as part of an efficient, resilient and effective Planning Function.

Key Tasks:

Responsible for their own caseload in dealing with and formulating recommendations on planning and other applications and matters either for presentation to the Planning & Orders Committee or under the authority’s delegated functions scheme in accordance with agreed targets, timescales and priorities together with compiling and preparing cases in respect of planning appeals, and represent the Authority at hearings and inquiries.

Ensure that their work takes full account of the policies of relevant development plans, supplementary guidance and national planning policy and apply this to ensure quality, robust and sustainable planning recommendations and decisions.

Expeditiously validate and process planning and other applications in an efficient manner in accordance with agreed targets, timescales and priorities.

Ensure that statutory public consultation requirements are carried out expeditiously in accordance with agreed targets, timescales and priorities.

Ensure that consultations and decisions on planning applications are issued expeditiously in accordance with agreed targets, timescales and priorities.

As required, expeditiously complete all planning and personal searches and related enquiries in accordance with agreed targets, timescales and priorities.

Liaise with and advise on planning related matters with other Services of the authority, external bodies and members of the public and maintain effective communication and engagement with stakeholders and partners (including elected members, developers and the general public).

Contribute to attaining the performance targets of the section.

Consistently demonstrate professional values, standards and behaviours and work to their highest potential and support activities to deliver cultural change and commitment to continuous improvement.
