Working as an Urban Designer in this scenic borough, you will get to work on the regeneration and new developments in the local area, having a great impact on the community.


Your new role
To deliver high quality, robust and transparent decision making within tight time frames on conservation and/or urban design matters to ensure that the Planning and Transport Division is recognised as delivering an excellent planning service for all of their customers. The Senior Urban Design Officer will independently manage an area of conservation and/or urban design, providing comprehensive and detailed advice on high profile planning applications, pre-application advice requests and correspondence to agreed and identifiable timescales, to deliver a successful planning outcome and provide a high quality urban environment / public realm and to protect the boroughs' heritage assets. To independently manage key specialist projects related to conservation and design and its broader implementation within the borough, as allocated by the Principal Conservation and Urban Design Officer and Policy and Design Team Manager. To coach and supervise junior planning officers to help them acquire the skills and knowledge so that they can become self-reliant in dealing with technical and people issues as required.


What you'll need to succeed
You will need to have worked previously as an Urban Designer, close to senior level, preferably within a London local authority. You will have to be committed to the role, and be able to make it into the office at least roughly twice a week. You will have to be proactive in your approach to the role, and be able to show excellent knowledge and expertise of the urban design process.

A guaranteed 3+ month rolling contract, with likelihood of being extended continually, and the potential to go permanent afterwards, as well as a generous pay rate. Work will be mainly remote, with only being required in the office twice a week in London.
