About us

At Natural England, we advise the UK Government on the natural environment. We’re here to make sure people and nature can thrive. From advising farmers on sustainable land management to gathering and analysing environmental data and promoting health and wellbeing through the great outdoors, we love what we do. Join us and you’ll be part of an inclusive, motivated and ambitious team, committed to achieving results for our environment, for everyone.

About the role

As a Senior Adviser for Natural England, you’ll play a leading role in our sustainable development and nature recovery projects. You’ll also be at the forefront of our organisational development, shaping our strategies for green recovery and creating nature-rich places to live and work.

This is a rewarding role with fantastic opportunities to secure positive environmental outcomes and further our vital work. On top of your strategic input, you’ll collaborate with partners and other Natural England teams across a variety of areas including green infrastructure, biodiversity net gain, local planning, protected site solutions and district level licensing.

About you

We’re looking for passion, highly collaborative candidates with a good understanding of strategy, statutory planning and the environment. You’ll be able to work with a wide range of colleagues and stakeholders to find solutions and secure positive outcomes for all. Great communication skills are also important, and you should have a degree in a relevant subject.

About our benefits

We welcome and encourage applications from all communities and, wherever possible, we accommodate requests for both full and part-time hours and other flexible working patterns. Everyone at Natural England is supported to develop their skills and capabilities and you can also look forward to great benefits including a Civil Service pension.

If you’re inspired to protect and enhance England’s wildlife and want to work for a leading science-led organisation, apply here.
