Planning Manager Job Vacancy

Your new company
This corporation is the organisation that the Mayor of London has set up to drive the regeneration of the area of east London around Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. This means that they do many different things, from building new homes, schools, universities, cultural institutions and business premises; to managing a beautiful Park and fantastic sporting venues; to running community events and sports programmes.

Your new role
They are looking for an experienced Planning Manager (Planning Consultant or Planning Officer) to join their Development Directorate, who is enthusiastic and can demonstrate potential to develop in this challenging client-side role. Representing the corporation as developer, promoter and applicant, you will be supporting the delivery of a range of development projects and programmes in and around Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park including planning applications for major residential-led mixed use developments through to and monitoring the implementation and discharging conditions for developments under construction. Reporting to the Director of Planning, you will be supporting colleagues and development partners across the organisation, managing consultants, providing planning advice and research, preparing and submitting planning applications and obtaining consent through to implementation, including monitoring and discharging conditions to support delivery of their development sites.

What you'll need to succeed
The successful candidate must have demonstrable and relevant experience in managing a range of planning projects including major residential-led planning applications, Environmental Impact Assessments, legal agreements and obtaining planning consents. You must have an excellent working knowledge of the UK planning system, with a good understanding the London context. Excellent communication skills are required for this role with experience of preparing and presenting reports to a range of internal and external stakeholders. The successful candidate will be working within project teams with a range of internal and external stakeholders and consultants, and must therefore be able to establish good working relationships quickly. You must be able to work independently with minimum supervision, be able to organise and prioritise your work and take the lead on small to medium scale projects.

What you'll get in return
A guaranteed 3 month rolling contract, working with one of the more interesting public corporations in London on a variety of both commercial and residential major applications. Working closely with the mayor's office to lead the regeneration of this area of East London, you will get to have a real impact on the shaping of the surrounding local area.
