We are currently seeking applications for a Reporter within the Scottish Government Planning and Environmental Appeals Division (DPEA) based in Falkirk. This is a permanent and pensionable appointment and new entrants will normally start on the minimum of the pay range. Candidates with a disability who meet the essential criteria below will be invited to the assessments.
DPEA is responsible for determining on behalf of or reporting to Scottish Ministers on a range of planning and environmental casework. DPEA deal with a wide variety of cases including high profile housing proposals; other major infrastructure projects; and proposals for onshore wind farms.
The successful candidate will primarily work from home but will, in normal times, be expected to travel to Falkirk on occasion for meetings concerning case management and training. Normal business will also entail travel around Scotland.
A professional qualification related to planning, environmental management, architecture or law is required as well as membership of an appropriate professional body, such as RTPI.

- Knowledge and significant experience of dealing with planning and environmental casework and/or policy.
- The ability to communicate concisely and accurately, both verbally and in writing, and to engage people at all levels.
- A recent track record of participating at a senior level in decision making on high profile projects or in the preparation of development plans.
- Strong analytical skills.
