Job Details

We are looking for talented and ambitious planners to join our Northern team, at Senior Planner, Planner and Assistant Planner level.

Manchester

This is an exciting opportunity to advance your career within a vibrant and progressive consultancy, where you will be given the encouragement and tools to grow and progress. Working with other like-minded and talented colleagues, you will be involved in advising on stretching and prestigious projects across the northern regions. We work on projects across various sectors, including health, energy, residential, commercial, hospitality and leisure. Examples of current projects include a major new hospital, a low-carbon industrial cluster, a championship golf course and resort, a Garden Village, mixed use town centre regeneration, student accommodation and large scale logistics development.

We have a range of complementary services, including heritage, sustainability, design, economics and strategic communications, which provide a comprehensive place-shaping offer for our clients. You will benefit from this broad offer, advancing your learning and appreciation of different skills and specialisms.

One of Turley’s hallmarks is that we are a fully employee-owned company. All our co-owners have an equal interest and responsibility in our service and success. We are invested in each other. We share in success. The depth of engagement by colleagues in the business shows. You will notice the difference working with us.

Since joining Turley in 2014 as a new graduate, I’ve been so impressed with how the company seeks to continually evolve for the benefit of co-owners – from first introducing greater flexibilities, such as remote working in 2014 which ultimately ensured our resilience throughout the pandemic; to addressing the Climate Crisis in the last few years through achieving Carbon Neutral status; and to continually looking at the ways to increase inclusivity and diversity across the company. Every co-owner has their role to play in shaping these initiatives and I am proud to play my part!

Olivia Carr, Associate Director

As a young professional, Turley provides a truly welcoming, supportive and encouraging environment to develop your knowledge, skills and understanding of the planning world. I first joined Turley’s Northern Planning Team in 2017 as a student intern and have been really impressed by the opportunities available to gain hands on experience on a hugely diverse range of projects, working with major developers, investors and organisations on projects of national, regional and local significance. Turley is dedicated to its co-owners and investing in their professional development, providing the resources, guidance and investment to help everyone achieve their best – this is something I particularly valued whilst completing my professional accreditation via the RTPI. I’m proud to be a part of the Northern team and to be contributing to the work we do which is shaping the places of the future!

Tom Lord, Planner

We are a carbon neutral business. We are dedicated to tackling climate change and working towards a greener future. We calculate, reduce and offset all emissions associated with our activity to achieve CarbonNeutral® company certification in accordance with The CarbonNeutral Protocol.

We contribute to the communities we are part of through acting with corporate responsibility; bringing our professional best; and through the work of our Charitable Trust.

We offer an excellent remuneration and flexible benefits package including pension, ownership dividend and performance-related bonus.

We are constantly evolving our way of working to ensure we play to people’s strengths and reflect personal circumstances, whilst ensuring we always deliver for our clients.  Across the business we have a range of different working arrangements including our blended flexible working, allowing co-owners choice, freedom, and flexibility as to where, when and how they work, balancing personal, team and client requirements.  We are always happy to explore what may be the ‘best fit’.

As a Senior Planner, you will have good experiences post RTPI accreditation and will be confident to lead on some projects. At a Planner level, you will have experience of working within a planning context and be a member and have an RTPI degree/Masters. As an Assistant Planner, this is an exciting opportunity to confidently launch your career in a friendly team environment and receive a comprehensive package of assistance whilst completing the APC process. Successful candidates will be proactive and able to demonstrate good knowledge of the planning system with excellent organisational and communication skills. You will be involved in delivering exciting projects, with responsibility and client contact, from the start.

Please apply in confidence by following the Apply Now link or email careers@turley.co.uk, providing your CV and a covering letter with details of your current salary.

No agency interest please.

The successful candidate must have permission to work in the UK by the start of their employment.
