Situated in West Hertfordshire, the Borough of Dacorum is composed of the main towns of Hemel Hempstead, Berkhamsted and Tring, with large areas of Green Belt and Outstanding Natural Beauty, and numerous historic settlements and buildings.
As Principal Enforcement Officer you will be at the forefront of protecting Dacorum residents, historic buildings and beautiful landscapes from unlawful development. Leading a small team of dedicated enforcement officers, you will be managing the team in all enforcement matters related to the control of development under the Town and Country Planning Acts and related legislation.
This role will suit a candidate currently in post as a Principal Planning Enforcement Officer or working as a Planning Officer or Enforcement Officer looking to expand their career into management and take on new challenges relating to alleged breaches of planning control across the Borough, gain experience of Hearings and Public Inquiries, and work with an interesting and varied caseload involving both rural and urban issues.
The successful candidate is likely to have three years development management experience, at least two of which gained post-MRTPI election/eligibility for election, and two years’ experience working with, or for, local planning authorities. The Council also offers the potential of undertaking a level 3 management apprenticeship.
You will need a driving licence which is valid in the UK and access to a vehicle.
This will be a flexible hybrid of predominantly home based working role with full access to our newly redesigned offices, encompassing a mix of hot-desking, collaboration areas and a wellbeing zone.
The deadline for applications will be midnight on the closing date shown in the advert details.
