Planning Officer (Development Manager)
Torbay
£32,234 - £34,728 (Grade I SCP 28-31)
Full time, fixed
Torbay is a stunning coastal location in South Devon, close to Dartmoor National Park and in easy reach of Exeter city and the M5. This is a beautiful location in which to live and work and the Council has serious ambitions to build on the regeneration and investment already happening in the Bay.
As a Planning Officer in Development Management, working in our fast paced, innovative and supportive team, you will be working across Torquay, Paignton and Brixham and will be responsible for determining a diverse range of planning applications, pre-applications and appeals. Applications will be varied but will be mainly minors and some small majors depending on experience.
Torbay attracts a wide variety of development proposals including residential, industrial, commercial and tourism related. Significant regeneration projects are being brought forward by the Council through the Torbay Development Agency with exciting regeneration proposals for our town centres. Torbay is also rich in heritage assets and includes sensitive designated ecological habitats.
This 24 month post is to add strength and resource to the team at a time when significant regeneration related applications will be coming forward; due to the dynamic nature of Torbay it is likely there will be further opportunities for a successful candidate.
As an experienced Planning Officer, you should have relevant Town and Country Planning or equivalent qualifications. You will be a member of the Royal Town Planning Institute or working towards this. You will have relevant experience of determining planning applications within a local government setting.
This is a great opportunity to expand your experience working on some exciting applications within a dynamic and friendly team whilst enjoying a good work-life balance in a scenic and beautiful part of the UK.
If you would like an informal discussion on the post, please contact Wendy Ormsby, Service Manager – Development Management, on 07780 227602.
