Work for an organisation tasked with Planning London's future. Senior Strategic Town Planner - £42.20ph.

Your new company
Overseeing the strategic administration for Greater London you will be working as part of a Planning Service designed to oversee Major Planning Applications across the 32 London Boroughs and the City of London Corporation.

Your new role
You will work as part of a Development Management team on pre applications as well as referred schemes. These will consist of 100 Unit plus sites, projects over 10 stories in height not within the City of London boundary and anything built on green belt or metropolitan open space. You will work on the Mayor's spatial strategies through development, monitoring and review of the Mayor's strategies, especially the spatial and economic development, housing and transport strategies and environment impact assessments. You will process strategic planning application referrals and negotiate Section 106 agreements, advise on borough development plan documents, local plans and associated local plan-making statutory and supplementary planning documents. You will lead on or contribute to the production of Opportunity Area Planning Frameworks and prepare briefings and reports for the Mayor, Assembly and other organisations on planning and spatial development issues. You will also get to lead or contribute to the initiation, design, management and completion of relevant policy development projects and research. As well as lead or contribute to advice on planning briefs, development proposals and the plans and strategies of other agencies especially Local Development Documents and the development plans of authorities outside London.

What you'll need to succeed
You will need to work quickly and efficiently as decisions and comments need to be made promptly. You will therefore need a good understanding of the London planning system and have worked on larger schemes for a relevant metropolitan authority ideally within London itself. A recognised RTPI qualification is an added benefit and having worked at an officer level within a local authority for 2+ years is a necessity. You will need to be able to delegate and work well as part of a team and reports will need to be accurate and delivered professionally.

What you'll get in return
A long-term rolling contract, with a likelihood of continual extension and potential to go permanent, as well as a competitive rate of pay. You will be working in a hybrid working environment, looking to come into central London twice a week, with also being needed on site visits when working on certain applications. This is a great opportunity to work on the biggest and best schemes across the capital and really have input into the way London is shaped in the future.
