Working as a planner in our Development Management team, you will play a vital part in shaping life in Shetland - with opportunities to assist in in the delivery of existing planned growth, as well as planning for the long term future of the islands.

As Planning Officer for Development Management Service you will carry out the full duties of the post in accordance with the legislative requirements and the Council’s statutory duties, policies and priorities, as directed.

We’re looking for someone who’s motivated, enthusiastic and highly organised, with excellent written, numeracy and verbal communication skills. You will be educated to degree level or willing to commence study to achieve an RTPI recognised qualification be able to analyse and interpret data, prepare reports and briefings, take part and lead on topic groups and manage projects.

Relevant experience in development management at local authority level would be an advantage in this role.
