We have opportunities for two experienced Planners to join our Development Management Team in one of the best places in Britain to live, work and visit.

The Derbyshire Dales has a wealth of stunning landscapes, picturesque villages, conservation areas, archaeological sites and monuments, together with historic buildings, more than 1,325 of which are listed. The District also boasts many beautiful historic parks and gardens.

We have two current vacancies and, in each case, you will need to be an experienced and confident Planner with a proven track record of delivering high quality development, whilst being able to maximise the benefits of new development for existing and future residents of the District.

The successful candidates must be well organised and self-motivated with the ability to work under pressure. You must have excellent communication and negotiation skills and the ability to contribute to a high quality service to our customers.

In return we can offer you the opportunity to further develop your career within an excellent authority, with access to a car user allowance, flexitime and professional development opportunities.

The Principal Planning Officer will manage a dedicated team of planning officers within the Development Management Team at Derbyshire Dales District Council to help deliver the aspirations of our Local Plan, which sets ambitious targets for housing and employment growth and to help shape the future delivery of the service. We would expect the successful candidate to have had at least 5 years’ Development Management experience at a senior level. A management qualification or management experience is also desirable.

We would expect the successful candidate for the Senior Planning Officer position to have had at least 3 years’ Development Management experience and to be able to demonstrate excellent Planning judgement.
