Planner - Planning Strategy

Salary: £32,234 - £34,728

Ewloe, Flintshire with agile working

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Flintshire’s Planning Policy and Strategic Planning team as a Planner. You will potentially be involved with a wide ranging Planning Policy and Strategic Planning workload based on the maintenance of an up to date planning policy framework and evidence base. You will contribute to the effective and efficient operation of the Planning Service, ensuring an up to date Development Plan is in place, and that appropriate legislation and policy guidance is taken into account in any recommendations and decision making.

With initiative and drive, you will actively contribute as part of the team, to the final stages of the progression and adoption of the Local Development Plan which has been through its Examination in Public, including the need to develop supplementary planning guidance once the plan is adopted. You will ensure consistency with national policy and guidance and thereafter assist with the implementation, monitoring and review of the plan to ensure that it is kept up to date.

You should hold a suitable degree or equivalent in town planning or a similar related relevant subject. In addition to this you should be a member of, or be capable of achieving membership of the RTPI. You should ideally have experience of working on development plan preparation which includes policy preparation and justification, although we equally value and recognise other relevant planning experience and a positive and flexible attitude towards development and team integration. You should have strong research, information gathering and data analysis skills and experience in report writing and presentation skills.

We will consider part time, job share or flexible working and our policies facilitate work life balance. Our attractive offer includes pension scheme and other local government benefits.
