Do you want to work for a highly motivated local authority planning team who consistently delivers a high level of service?
 
You will be mainly working from home, with the exception of site visits and key meetings. The office location can be discussed upon application to the role.
 
This newly created role is because of an increase in workload due to continued development in the local area. The local authority is looking to bring in an experienced planner that can hit the ground running with minimal supervision.
You will be required to work both individually and as part of a team to continue the high level of service that the local authority operate to currently. You will be managing a mixed caseload of applications so must be comfortable with this variety.
 
To be successful in this position you MUST HAVE:
·Access to your own vehicle or a valid UK driving license (for travel to and from the office and for site visits)
·Be comfortable working from home and using Microsoft Teams/Zoom
·Please note this role would suit an experienced policy planning team leader with at least 5 years of team leader experience.
Role & Responsibilities:
·Assist the Spatial Planning Manager in the delivery of a Spatial Planning service, through the provision of professional advice, guidance, interpretation and evaluation on all aspects of the work area to service users and colleagues to meet statutory and service requirements, so that it meets statutory targets and legislation and seeks to deliver corporate priorities through the preparation and delivery of an up to date Development Plan and associated documents.
·Assist the Spatial Planning Manager in the review, challenge and prioritisation of service needs to inform budget setting and subsequently control financial expenditure from agreed budget to ensure service priorities are achieved within financial provision.
·Lead and manage officers on the formulation and interpretation of design and conservation policy.  This includes training and skill development of officers and Members to ensure that high quality design becomes central to the activities and outcomes of the Department.  
·Working as part of a team to ensure all targets and deadlines are met.
On offer is an hourly rate of up to £68p/h depending on experience.
