Whilst the primary function of the post holder is to manage others and ensure quality and consistency of delegated decision making, there is opportunity within the role to remain ‘hands on’ and to utilise the candidates considerable professional experience as the lead case officer in the handling of more complex case work. A familiarity with rural planning issues, the assessment of complex applications undertaking of planning enforcement, and a track record of dealing with IT and data management systems would all be advantageous

Candidates should be able to demonstrate effective leadership skills and the ability to motivate others; however whilst previous line management experience would be of benefit this is not essential as the post is an excellent opportunity for a suitably experienced planning professional to take the next step in their career progression with support and training in the management of others able to be provided.

The salary scale will be Scottish Local Government Employee (SLGE) 12, which is £40,513 to £44,345 per annum. The post holder will be contracted to 35 hours per week and will be entitled to flexitime.
