About the team

At Kirklees Council, we receive over 4,000 planning applications every year – and we’re currently looking for new talent to help us manage exciting new challenges.

We’re proud to be a proactive, dynamic and friendly team, working with a wide range of services and partners to deliver the Council’s ambitions for Kirklees. These range from addressing the climate emergency and supporting a sustainable economy to delivering the Kirklees Local Plan, which includes an ambitious housing and employment strategy, and a multi-million pound programme for the regeneration of local town centres.

Our aim is to develop amazing places, which really benefit the residents of Kirklees, and our focus is always on local communities. Through community engagement, and close working with developers, applicants and businesses, we always seek to achieve the best possible outcomes.

Home to the thriving university town of Huddersfield, stunning Pennine countryside and countless heritage assets, Kirklees also boasts a diverse range of towns and villages – from the historic former mill town of Dewsbury to Holmfirth, which nestles next to the rural beauty of the Peak District. The variety of the Kirklees landscape is mirrored in the diversity of projects within the Planning & Development team.

Planning Technician (Monitoring)
GR5-GR6 - £19,650 - £22,129 (plus £2,000 annual retention payment)

The roles above are entitled to a retention payment (shown in brackets) of between £2,000 - £4,000 per year (grade dependent). This would be spilt into two payments in December and June of each year. You become eligible for the payment after 6 months of employment and successful completion of your probationary period. This payment will be reviewed annually.
