Kirklees Council is seeking ambitious and enthusiastic individuals to fulfil a variety of roles across the Planning & Development service.

At Kirklees Council, we receive over 4,000 planning applications every year – and we’re currently looking for new talent to help us manage exciting new challenges.

We’re proud to be a proactive, dynamic and friendly team, working with a wide range of services and partners to deliver the Council’s ambitions for Kirklees. These range from addressing the climate emergency and supporting a sustainable economy to delivering the Kirklees Local Plan, which includes an ambitious housing and employment strategy, and a multi-million pound programme for the regeneration of local town centres.

Senior Planning Officer (Development Management) x 2
GR12, £38,553 - £40,578 (plus £3,000 annual retention payment)

Planning Officer (Development Management) x 2
GR6-GR10, £20,444 - £34,373 (plus £2,000 annual retention payment)

Senior Planning Officer (Planning Policy)
GR12, £38,553 - £40,578 (plus £3,000 annual retention payment)

Planning Officer (Planning Policy)
GR6-GR10, £20,444 - £34,373 (plus £2,000 annual retention payment)

Planning Technician (Monitoring)
GR5-GR6 - £19,650 - £22,129 (plus £2,000 annual retention payment)

The roles above are entitled to a retention payment (shown in brackets) of between £2,000 - £4,000 per year (grade dependent). This would be spilt into two payments in December and June of each year. You become eligible for the payment after 6 months of employment and successful completion of your probationary period. This payment will be reviewed annually.
