We have an ambitious and up to date development plan and considerable space to grow. Working with our local & GM partners and the private sector we are delivering on our ambitions to regenerate our Town Centres and neighbourhoods and exploit our connectivity, unique heritage and location at the heart of the Northern Powerhouse.

Effective enforcement is an important part of this growth agenda and an opportunity has arisen for a graduate, or a student in the final stages of their degree course, to join the Development Management team. We are looking for someone with a proactive approach and an ability to communicate effectively with members of the public, developers and key stakeholders. In return, you will gain an up to date working knowledge of legislation, policy and best practice relating to enforcement and development management and develop the ability to apply policy creatively on the ground.

Working under the direct supervision of a Senior Enforcement Officer, and working closely with the Development Management team, the temporary role will predominantly be focussed on enforcement of breaches of planning control.

The role will require the post holder to undertake site visits, draft formal planning related notices, write detailed reports, process applications for planning permission and undertake planning related appeals. Experience of working with ICT systems is essential. As a good team player you will have drive and enthusiasm along with a positive attitude to dealing with applicants, Members and the general public.

If you are up for the challenge and can contribute positively to the Council’s growth agenda, we would like to hear from you.

Candidates who have been interviewed previously need not apply.
