Would you like to work for an RTPI award winning team? Rochdale Borough Council’s Development Management Team is recognised in the industry for providing a highly professional, commercially focused service and placing staff wellbeing at the heart of what we do.

Rochdale Borough Council has ambitious plans for growth and investment. Work is well under way on the final stages of the £400m transformation of Rochdale town centre and our wider regeneration strategies includes proposals for large scale residential growth with a focus on town centre living and strategic sites.

A vacancy has arisen for an Assistant Development Manager to join our team.  Working with the Head of Planning, Development Manager and Assistant Development Manager, you will be part of a supportive and award winning team focussing on outcomes and wellbeing. You might already be experienced in leading a development management team and looking for a new challenge, or you may be a principal or senior officer with a track record of leading major development projects through the planning system and looking to step up into a management role.

We value candidates who can demonstrate a commercially focused and business minded approach that will support our use of Planning Performance Agreements and will help us maintain our reputation for providing a high quality service to our customers.

For our part, we can offer you the chance to work out of our award winning offices and be part of an award winning team that prides itself on what we deliver, our supportive team environment and the fact staff morale and well-being is at the heart of how we manage our business.

If you think you’d be a good fit, we’d like to hear from you.

In addition to being a great place to work, we support hybrid working arrangements, opportunities for training and development and a chance to be involved in schemes that will define your career whilst shaping the future of Rochdale and the city region.

You’ll also enjoy a generous annual leave entitlement, access to the local government pension scheme, flexible working arrangements and subsidised gym membership. For an informal discussion about the role, please contact Daniela Ripa (Interim Head of Planning) on 01706 924316.
