Persimmon Homes Lancashire requires a Strategic Land Manager to join our successful land and planning team operating across the Lancashire & Cumbria area, a great part of the Country to work. This role will be based in our regional office, based in Lancaster. This is an exciting opportunity to work in an environment where your input will see sites come to fruition and be built.

As a Strategic Land Manager / Planner within our regional office you will be part of a small, busy land and planning team with exciting growth ambitions. Your main responsibilities will include the sourcing of medium to long term strategic development land as well as providing planning reports, group reporting, commenting on policies, constraints and opportunities from a planning perspective. We are looking for someone with a proven track record of working within the plan-led system and who has the ability and experience of engaging with landowners and managing the purchase process through land negotiation and contract progression. The applicant requires a good level of computer literacy and an awareness of the current planning legislation and ability to negotiate.

You will report to the Land Director, who will support and assist your development in the way Persimmon operate, empowering you to run with deals and land promotion, but always on hand to discuss, guide and assist. They will give you clear objectives. You will need to learn to be adaptable and strong in your management style with a consistent approach with internal architect’s engineers, surveyor’s and external consultants, agent’s, local authorities and land owners

The position requires an enthusiastic, confident, hardworking individual who is willing to show their initiative. Professional communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills are vital. A full driving license is essential.

If this sounds appealing to you we will require:

A sufficient level of planning expertise and knowledge of strategic development in the Region, ideally the Candidate will have some familiarity of land buying and dealing with land agents and planning authorities in the Region. Someone who is self-motivated, asks questions, wants to progress and has a good work ethic. Confidence in numeracy and negotiation skills are essential for this role. A degree in a relevant planning, property or surveying related subject is highly desirable.
