The key role for the Planning Manager will be leading the Development Management service, including Conservation, Enforcement and Trees.

You will ensure the effective and efficient delivery of an excellent development management service, managing development control decisions and ensuring these are made within agreed timescales whilst delivering the Council’s high customer service requirements. You will manage, monitor implement and review the planning service delivery plans, including contributions to any corporate as well as service priorities, allocate case officer responsible and appropriate Senior Planning Officer (for major applications/corporate priority projects), ensure the Council is effectively represented at planning appeals and that appropriate action is taken against unauthorised development. In addition, you will be responsible for motivating and developing a team of staff, ensuring that effective performance management and administrative systems are in place.

You will be a qualified Town Planner and hold corporate membership of the RTPI. In addition, you will be an effective negotiator, have extensive, proven experience of dealing with complex planning proposals, a successful planning appeal record and experience of supervising staff including conducting staff reviews and appraisals.
