Job Details
Dartford is the Kent Borough adjoining London on the rivers Thames and Darent. Conveniently located for employment and housing, Dartford’s connections are more than just the Dartford crossing:
- Dartford rail station, adjacent the Council offices, is part of the TfL Oyster card area, and links to a wide range of stations in London and in Kent via Thameslink and other services.
- Ebbsfleet International Rail Station (17mins to London) in the east of the Borough.
- Good bus services, including TfL buses in the Borough and the Fastrack rapid transit system.
Dartford is one of the very fastest growing districts in the country, with planned new and extended communities on brownfield land. As a place of choice for international, national and local businesses, as well as Bluewater shopping centre and the Ebbsfleet Development Corporation; the Borough is a varied and exciting place to work on planning strategy for real change. Our focus is on Dartford Town Centre and securing large mixed use residential-led redevelopment in and around the town, as well as public realm and transport-related improvements.
We are looking for an enthusiastic planner (or relevant graduate seeking further qualifications to become RTPI eligible), keen for a challenge in a positive high growth environment. You will work integrated in a small friendly team, and gain further experience of a variety of strategic planning matters, as we sustainably maintain urban regeneration through the new Local Plan.
As a minimum, you will have a planning or related degree, experience of undertaking research into strategic planning, and very good numeracy and report writing skills. Proficiency at GIS systems is desirable. You will be able to progress to a higher grade in the career grade band, on achievement of RTPI eligibility and then by gaining additional experience. We offer flexible working arrangements.
