St Albans City and District Council’s Spatial Planning & Design Team is growing significantly, supported by new additional funding from the Council. The team is expanding from 5 to 8 Policy specialists to help us drive forward the Local Plan and cement cross-boundary relations with adjoining Councils. With advice, support and financial investment from the Department of Levelling Up Housing and Communities and Homes England in our cross-boundary working on the South West Herts Joint Strategic Plan and potential major growth at Hemel Garden Communities, now is an excellent time for positive, enthusiastic and forward thinking candidates to join the team.
In this key role you will provide professional advice, guidance, interpretation and evaluation on all aspects of the work area to service users and colleagues. Taking the lead on the research and delivery of specific policy and projects, you will act as the departmental expert to inform the preparation of an up to date Development Plan and associated documents.
You will project manage and supervise team members and consultants to provide input to projects and take responsibility for project delivery. You will also seek to deliver corporate priorities through the preparation and delivery of an up to date Development Plan and associated documents.
Educated to degree standard or equivalent with professional Membership of the RTPI, you must have considerable knowledge and experience of preparing spatial planning documents for this senior role. In depth knowledge of planning legislation and the government guidance is essential.
An excellent communicator, both orally and in writing, you will have the ability to represent the Council in a wide range of forums from regional agencies to local bodies, together with the ability to supervise and support officers within the team.
