An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Development Management Team at East Cambridgeshire District Council as a Planning Assistant. We are looking to appoint a full time (37 hours per week) Planning Assistant to join our committed and vibrant planning team on a permanent basis.
With a diverse range of buildings and projects in the District, including internationally renowned heritage and environmental assets, new industrial projects, large residential developments and retail proposals, there are wide-ranging areas of work to be enjoyed with this role. East Cambridgeshire is committed to growth, with a positive and pro-active approach to development. It is open for business with a strong customer focus
As Planning Assistant, you will provide a support service for Planning and Senior Officers, Team Leaders, Planning Manager and the Planning Enforcement Team. Duties will include providing support with the processing of major planning applications, assisting with the completion of the appeal caseload, discharge of condition applications, research and assisting with the preparation for Planning Committee and other meetings. In addition, you will also be responsible for your own caseload, processing smaller household applications, as directed by the Planning Team Leaders. This post is ideal for someone who is looking to take their first steps towards a career in Planning.
Ideally applicants should be educated to degree level (or equivalent), but this is not essential, as long as you can demonstrate strong communication, organisational, administrative and interpersonal skills. You will need to have a driving license and access to a car to carry out site visits. In addition, you will be a team worker who is able to work accurately to deadlines and committed to delivering a high-quality service.
The Council offers a range of benefits including:
- Childcare scheme (in approved cases)
- Flexible working
- Training and development
- Occupational health programme
- Essential user allowance (up to £1,239 p.a.)
- Holidays, sickness and pension scheme entitlements
Closing date for completed applications is: Sunday, 19th June 2022
Interviews will be held on: W/C 27th June 2022
