Development Management Planning Officer

Carrington West are assisting their local authority client based in London in their search for a Town Planner to join their Development Management team on a 3 month rolling contract.

The ideal candidate will have experience dealing with a range of planning applications including householder, minor and other full applications, prior approvals and notifications and conditions. The successful candidate will be expected to process applications for planning permission, listed building applications, applications for consent to display advertisements.

• To undertake all necessary consultations, site visits, appraisal of proposals and negotiations with applicants and objectors on planning and other applications.
• To prepare reports on planning and other applications.
• To undertake investigation of complaints about alleged planning contraventions.
• To prepare statements for Written Representation App (Planning and Enforcement) and to assist or undertake the preparation and presentation of evidence at Public Inquiries and Hearings
• To undertake site visits as necessary potentially work from the office once every 2 weeks

The right candidate will be motivated, technically knowledgeable, and have a strong customer service ethos.

You will be required to have some knowledge and experience of working within a council planning team as you will be expected to hit the ground running.

It would be beneficial although not mandatory to hold a RTPI accredited Planning Degree or equivalent Planning qualification and/or have considerable experience in a similar position; and also hold a licentiate membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute (or equivalent)
