Join us in this role where you’ll pioneer new energy solutions that provide the flexibility required to address the changing landscape of energy production and consumption. You’ll help deliver our vision to provide energy-balancing solutions to complement our world-leading position in offshore wind by gaining planning permission and discharging the conditions for the projects already consented. You'll manage any necessary surveys and ensure we meet our environmental monitoring and mitigation requirements.

Welcome to Environment and Consents

You’ll be part of the Hornsea Three Consent team where you, together with your colleagues, will work with the Project and the System Integration team to deliver innovative and market-leading energy-balancing solutions to support our UK portfolio of renewable energy projects. The role will involve responsibility for the development, permitting, and discharging of conditions relating to energy-balancing infrastructure projects on Hornsea Three to begin with, moving on to ensure that our future projects and market development opportunities integrate these solutions into their applications.

You’ll play an important role in:

  • sourcing and managing consultants to deliver high-quality input to projects seeking to include energy integration solutions, in agreement with internal Project and Programme Managers
  • developing and delivering energy integration projects to bolster and enhance our UK energy portfolio, using your onshore planning competences to gain consent
  • working collaboratively with internal stakeholders, especially the technical members of the Systems Integration team, to successfully deliver the pipeline of energy-balancing projects
  • proactively developing internal processes and carrying out lessons learned, to set the best practice for consenting energy-balancing infrastructure in the UK
  • representing our projects with key external stakeholders, incl. regulatory bodies, on policy and industry forums on energy storage, electrification, and other forms of energy integration.

To succeed in the role, you:

  • have a background in delivering onshore consents or permissions, with any experience with utilities or equivalent industries being an advantage, incl. understanding of the UK-wide relevant planning, licensing, and consenting regimes
  • have a bachelor's degree, or equivalent experience, with a specialism in a particular field, for example town planning, that can be applied in the context of this role
  • thrive in an international environment and can speak and write English fluently
  • can effectively communicate with a wide group of stakeholders, build good relationships, and explain technically complex issues in a clear manner
  • can deliver on time and to budget whilst managing the potentially competing demands of project priorities and stakeholder advice.
