Job description:

The Council’s Planning Enforcement service is at the heart of maintaining confidence in the integrity of the planning system and ensuring Ealing is a healthy and great place to live.

We are now looking to recruit an enthusiastic Planning Enforcement Officer to join the Planning Enforcement Team.

You must have experience in managing a busy and varied caseload of different types of planning enforcement breaches and dealing with multiple lines of enquiry under pressure. You will need to have a proven track record in delivering successful planning enforcement outcomes, be that through negotiation, serving a variety of enforcement notices, defending notices on appeal, or successful prosecution/direct action. It is also preferable for you to have experience with POCA and acting as an expert witness in Hearings/Public Inquires.

You will need to demonstrate a professional level of competency in interpretation and enforcement of complex regulatory legislation. You will have excellent communication skills and be committed to maintaining effective relationships with our key stakeholders/partners.

A foundation degree or equivalent professional qualification in Planning will be required for this role.

This is an exciting time to join Ealing Council and be a part of the Planning Enforcement team.

The Benefits:

  • Flexible Working
  • Generous annual leave
  • Local government pension scheme
  • £1,000 market supplement awarded on an annual basis and to be reviewed on or about the annual anniversary of the contract
  • The council is a member of the ‘Enterprise car club’ scheme, giving you access to vehicles when performing your duties.

This role is deemed customer facing and as such you must have a command of spoken English which is sufficient to enable you to effectively perform the role. This requirement relates to Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016.

This role is subject to Ealing’s enhanced vetting process.
