POLICY AND DELIVERY OFFICER

Post Number:PEP23

Career Grade F - I: Salary: £25,419 - £36,371  pro rata

Hours: 18.5 hours per week

Looking for a new start? Come and work at Harrogate Borough Council.  Our values guide everything we do, and everything we do has an impact on the people who live here.

We are looking for an inspiring, motivated team player with a positive 'can do' attitude to join a council that has ambitious plans to deliver increased levels of new homes and jobs through its recently adopted Local Plan.

Working within a very friendly planning policy team, you will play an important role in the review of the Local Plan and planning for our new settlement Maltkiln as well as a range of other policy responsibilities such as monitoring, housing land supply, providing policy response to planning applications and neighbourhood planning.

You will be a team player, self-motivated and have good communication and organisational skills as well as an effective decision-maker who is able to build strong working relationships and be driven to achieve challenging objectives. You will ideally have experience of working within a planning policy environment however this post operates on a career grade meaning we are looking for people who might have different qualifications and levels of experience. The career grade also means there are opportunities available to progress to more complex and challenging work as you develop within the role.

The Harrogate Borough is a great place to be and we offer an exciting and broad range of experiences and opportunities.  The rich and diverse landscapes of the borough range from the Nidderdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in the west to the broad open landscape of the Vale of York in the east. We have a wide array of settlements, including the large spa town of Harrogate, the historic city of Ripon and many attractive small towns and villages in rural areas. We are well connected, with great road and rail links across the country and within easy reach of some of the UK’s leading cities including Leeds, Bradford and York.

It’s an exciting time to join us as the individual councils of North Yorkshire transition to one new Council in April 2023, coming together to boost the services we deliver for our residents.

Benefits of working here include flexible and agile working, options to buy additional leave, leisure facility discounts and the option to join the Local Government Pension Scheme.

The starting point on the career grade will depend on level of qualification and experience.

For an informal discussion, please email planningpolicy@harrogate.gov.uk to arrange an informal discussion.
