Principal Planning Officer

Our client requires a Principle Town Planner to join their Development Management, Spatial Planning Team and work independently of the Area Delivery Lead managing a caseload of major and complex planning applications, planning performance agreements and developments proposals or projects.

On a daily basis you will come into contact with a wide range of stakeholders and will be required to keep Elected Members, MPs and customers appropriately informed on planning matters and deliver a high level of customer care. You will regularly be required to attend and present items at Plans Panel, make recommendations and give planning advice to Elected Members.

To apply for this role you will need a significant amount of town planning work experience gained within a local authority context. A detailed knowledge of the statutory and policy framework within which planning decisions are made is absolutely essential as are formal qualifications; minimum to degree level and ideally with professional accreditation.

Proven experience of negotiating on high level developments with developers as well as communicate fluently and coherently with lead members and senior management on the merits and implications of developments must be clearly demonstrated on your CV.

This will initially be offered as a 3 month contract but could be extended beyond this. Our client is a Local Authority in East London and they are offering £40-£45/hr Umbrella (this role is inside IR35) depending on your level of experience.
