Graduate Planner or Planner (WFH)

Would you like a Graduate or Planner position where you can work from home?

Our client a collective of land development professionals who have many years of experience in land promotion, renewable energy and commercial/residential development, are on the lookout for a Graduate Planner or Planner.

You will be a key member of the team, assisting in the management of potential development sites, identifying opportunities in local and national planning policy in a fast-moving environment.

They are ideally looking for a very bright graduate but would consider someone up to a maximum of 2 years’ experience at Planner level too. You would join their team in their York offices at least one day a week ideally though this isn’t essential.

 

Role & Responsibilities

To prepare front-end planning reviews of incoming potential development sites for all types of developments, preparing good quality detailed reviews of viable sites where appropriate for the benefit of private investors and directors within agreed deadlines.

To continually monitor vulnerable local planning authorities where the ‘presumption in favour of sustainable development’ has been, or could be, triggered by various means.

To monitor policy developments (e.g. White Papers, Housing Delivery Test results) and identify any business opportunities, preparing report documents for internal and external circulation, where necessary.

Provide desk studies, baseline data collection, policy research and interpretation of data on planning-based projects within agreed deadlines.

Under take the preparation, submission and management of some minor planning applications with supervision.

 

About you

  • Demonstrate good awareness of the key principles of Town & Country Planning.
  • An excellent standard of verbal and written communication skills.
  • Degree-level education in an appropriate discipline, accredited by the Royal Town Planning Institute.
  • At least RTPI Licentiate membership, with an interest in working towards full Chartered membership.
  • Ability to deliver high-quality work under pressure, with minimal supervision.
  • Good analytical skills.
  • Ability to work as a member of a team.
  • To be able to carry out tasks flexibly, efficiently and reliably, taking responsibility for own projects
  • Knowledge of GIS would be desirable.

They will also give you the support you need to achieve your RTPI APC as quickly as possible. Giving you a mentor, and access to a network of people who are experts in their fields. Plus, they will support you with the practical experience required to achieve full membership of the RTPI.
