Hinckley and Bosworth is a fantastic environment for ambitious professional planners to gain a breadth of experience across a multitude of projects, ranging from regeneration to conservation, rural to urban, and residential to employment and major infrastructure projects. With the local plan proceeding to submission in 2023 and large scale developments underway, this is a great time to join a busy, thriving team.

At Hinckley & Bosworth Borough Council, we strive for success. With major investment and regeneration already underway, our projects, plans for the future, development opportunities and ambitions are on another scale entirely. The same can be said for this opportunity to join our talented and dedicated Planning Policy team.

You’ll have greater scope to develop both in your role and the small team of professionals that you’ll manage. Positive, dynamic and passionate about place making, you’ll make a great impression on your team. You’ll quickly become an important and highly valued member of our management team.

Whilst leading your team by example, you’ll take the lead on preparing the borough’s next Local Plan. The council is progressing its Local Plan to submission in early 2023 and now is the perfect opportunity to join that team and lead the council through the examination to a successful adoption and appearing at the public hearings on behalf of the council. You’ll be helping to shape the future of the borough and play a key role in the wider cross-boundary strategic planning agenda. With the level of planned future growth and investment, your work will be interesting and varied and provide the challenges you’ve been looking for.

The borough offers a wide range of rural planning issues and neighbourhood planning is a key priority. The team work closely with colleagues across planning so you will be involved in a broad range of planning and regeneration projects. We will look to you for ideas to make our service better and help you capitalise on your interest to work with our local communities and other stakeholders to deliver the council’s priorities.

We encourage flexible working, and most staff work in a hybrid manner with two days a week in the office. We recognise that people are our biggest and most valuable asset and are key to achieving our goals. To support our staff we provide a comprehensive benefits package and foster a positive working environment.
